Surgical care for conditions of the mouth, jaws and face — across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads regions.
Dr Linus Armstrong is a consultant oral and maxillofacial surgeon practising across the Gold Coast and Tweed Heads regions.
His work spans the full breadth of the specialty — from routine dentoalveolar surgery to the management of facial trauma, jaw deformity and complex reconstruction. He holds a Master of Surgery in Head and Neck from the University of Sydney and, in 2025, completed a subspecialty fellowship year in head and neck oncology and reconstruction in Hamilton, New Zealand. This remains a principal area of interest, alongside salivary gland surgery and implantology.
He is the current Head and Neck Oncology and Reconstructive Fellow at Gold Coast University Hospital and consults privately with Axis Oral & Facial Specialists at Tweed Heads and Benowa, and maintains an ongoing academic role with the University of Queensland. Referring practitioners are welcome to discuss a case directly before referral.
A summary of the procedures Dr Armstrong undertakes. Referrers are welcome to discuss any case prior to referral.
Surgical removal of impacted and wisdom teeth, difficult extractions, exposure of unerupted teeth, and coronectomy where the inferior alveolar nerve is at risk.
Single and multiple dental implants, bone grafting and sinus procedures, and zygomatic implants for the severely atrophic maxilla. Ceramic implant options available on discussion.
Surgical repositioning of the upper and lower jaws to correct bite discrepancies and facial imbalance, planned in conjunction with orthodontic treatment.
Assessment and management of jaw joint disorders — from conservative and minimally invasive options such as arthrocentesis through to open joint surgery where indicated.
Repair of facial injuries including fractures of the mandible, condyle and mid-face, restoring function and appearance after trauma with internal fixation where required.
Diagnosis, surgical management and reconstruction of cancers of the mouth, jaws, skin and neck — including ablative surgery, neck dissection and microvascular free-flap reconstruction, in a multidisciplinary setting.
Assessment and management of salivary gland disease, including stones (sialolithiasis), recurrent infection and gland tumours, with excisional surgery where indicated.
Diagnosis and treatment of cysts, lesions and mucosal conditions of the mouth and jaws, including biopsy, management of oral lichen planus and care of patients at risk of MRONJ.
